CCF awarded a grant of $13,672 to Purple Rose Theatre Company. The grant is in support of the commission and production of script readings in partnership with Chelsea District Library. This year, its founder, actor Jeff Daniels, returned as artistic director. He mentors three full-time artistic associates and collaborates with the company’s chief diversity officer. This structure decentralizes casting, production, and script decisions and results in a more equitable leadership structure. Since 2009, these public readings have allowed Purple Rose to develop new plays and serve as a cultural attraction and economic engine. Readings are held at the Chelsea Library at no cost to the public. The newest play, Human Error by Eric Pfeffinger and directed by Lynch R. Travis, runs February 3 through March 18, 2023. https://chelseafoundation.org/ https://www.purplerosetheatre.org/ https://chelseadistrictlibrary.org/ #chelseamichigan #chelseacommunityfoundation #ccf #chelseadistrictlibrary #grant #purplerosetheater #nonprofit
